  • "Love in a box" Christmas shoebox appeal

    Fri 24 Nov 2023

The Rotary Club of Derby launched the ‘Love in a Box’ Christmas shoebox appeal again this year, in support of the Teams4U national appeal. They invited schools, churches, businesses and individuals to pack shoeboxes with small gifts that they can transport to children in Eastern Europe, including Ukraine, who are living in poverty and would otherwise receive nothing at Christmas.

Our families, children and staff rallied together to make up over twenty boxes for this appeal.  The boxes were collected on Friday and have been deposited in Derby ready to be delivered to help children enjoy their Christmas.  A massive well done and thank you.

  • 🏃‍♂️Children in Need Vernon Kay Ultramarathon🏃‍♂️

    Thu 16 Nov 2023

Vernon Kay, who presents Radio 2's mid-morning show, has been challenged to travel from Leicester to Bolton over four days - all by the power of his own two feet. In total he'll be travelling over 115 miles by the morning of Friday 17 November. What a journey!

On Wednesday 15th November, just after lunch time, the children and staff here at MBHT made our way to the bottom of Clifton Road to cheer on Vernon Kay on his epic challenge. After a short while waiting (and waving at every car that passed us), we spotted Vernon in the distance making his way along the road. Everyone was very excited to be so close to a celebrity and to support him on his fundraising efforts.

To add to the excitement, all the children received a high five from the man himself! It was great to be able to support Vernon in his fundraising and it was an experience the children will not forget for a long time.

  • 🎶 A Quizzical Night of Music🎶

    Mon 13 Nov 2023

On Friday 10th November, the MBHT PTFA hosted their first quiz night at school. We had an amazing night full of music by the extraordinary local legend John Gill (and special guest on the djembe drum, Red) and an intense quiz all about Matlock Bath. We had a great turn out with guests from across the MBHT community and together, we managed to raise a whopping £538, which will be going towards refurbishing the canopy above the mural outside of the school's front doors and to the PTFA so that they can continue the outstanding work they have been doing to provide the school with amazing opportunities.
