Forest Schools (22-23)

Water Fun Enrichment

Summer 1

This half term we have been using our forest school skills to make our school grounds look amazing. We have been using the tools to help remove tree stumps. dead plants and make the earth ready for planting. We also had a go with the fire lighters to set fire to some houses we built to go with the theme of Willow Class' topic, The Great Fire of London.

October- The Leaves Leave

With the change in seasons, the children have been noticing the leaves changing colour and falling to the ground. This time of year is when our lovely grounds are carpeted with many autumnal colours and the children begin their yearly task of gathering the leaves up into piles. In Forest Schools, the children have been hunting for logs, sticks and branches to begin building a permanent structure in the school grounds. Some of the children ventured into the woodlands around school to find precious natural building materials while the rest of the school got to do some exciting leaf diving (making MASSIVE piles of leaves and leaping into them).

September Skills!

In Forest School so far, the children having been working on their team work by building dens. Armed with only a tarp and what they could find around the school grounds, the whole school worked to build some amazing dens. As an added challenge, the pupils had to race against time to make sure their dens were water tight before the rainclouds decided to empty.

Between showers, the classes had a go at apple bobbing (using our own apples from the trees near the office!!) to see if they could catch an scrumptious treat. Some of the Juniors worked on their knife skills, using our Forest School kit to whittle sticks and branches into stakes- perfect skills to use when building walls for their dens. It has been great to see everyone getting stuck-in to explore all the amazing natural resources we have at our school.
